DVD duplication and CD duplication is the perfect choice for your low volume and quick turn around needs. No project is too small. How does duplication differ from replication? DVD duplication and CD duplication are the process of taking information from a master disc and burning it onto another disc. Using a bank of disc burning drives, your data is copied onto blank discs (called DVD-Rs or CD-Rs) by burning the information from your original to all of the target drives. Each pass can take from 2 miuntes to 12 minutes depending on the amount of information on your master. Each disc is then labeled. Labelling can be accomplished different ways. The most common is a paper label. There are many options for paper labels, resulting in variable image quality. Paper labels are one of the cheapest options, but they need to be applied by hand and can often be misalligned with the disc surface. Another way to label discs is to print directly onto the surface. This can be done with either inkjet or thermal technology. Both inkjet and thermal can provide good quality color. However, inkjet will run if it gets wet unless there is a laminate coat applied. Digital Disc Works uses thermal print technology. Privided with the Rimage Everest II, thermal printing is a water resistant, offset print quality that gives your duplication project a high quality look at a not-so-high price. Replication, on the other hand, is a manufacturing process. Please click here to learn more. Because of the nature of duplication, it is usually the best option for quantities lower than 1000, or for extremely fast turn times-- times typically less than 3 days. The drawback of duplication versus replication is that a duplicated product (particularly a DVD-Video) cannot be guarenteed to be compatible with all players. If you plan to sell your copies, this could become problematic and replication would be advised.
